About GRounded Growth
Builders First. Coaches Second.
Grounded Growth was built by people who have actually built and operated businesses.
Not people who studied entrepreneurship from the outside.
Ron spent more than two decades building and operating an insurance brokerage — acquiring competitors, developing systems, managing teams, and ultimately exiting the business successfully.
But Grounded Growth is not just about past experience.
Today we are still actively building.
We continue to evaluate businesses for acquisition, invest in companies we believe in, and build new ventures ourselves. Grounded Growth itself is a startup we are actively developing.
We also remain involved as investors in businesses such as Priest Creek Family Estate Winery.
Business has never been something we simply stepped away from.
It’s something we continue to build.
Intentional preparation
The Why Behind The WOrk
For us, business has never been just business.
We genuinely enjoy building things.
Not in an abstract sense — but in the same way someone enjoys building a house or planting a garden.
- You start with something small.
- You add structure, effort, and intentional decisions.
- Over time you can actually see the results.
- Margins improve.
- Systems get stronger.
- Teams grow.
- The business becomes more valuable.
That process — building something and watching it grow — is what keeps us interested in business.
But there is another reason this work matters.
Over the past decade, more and more independent businesses have been absorbed by private equity groups and multinational corporations.
Consolidation has become a major force across many industries.
That is not always a bad outcome. For some owners, selling to a larger organization is a well-planned and successful exit strategy.
But too often it happens because the owner feels they have no real alternative.
We believe independent business owners should have more control than that.
A strong, profitable, well-structured business creates options.
You can continue to grow it.
You can acquire other companies.
Or you can sell it — on your terms.
Helping owners build businesses that create those options is a big part of why Grounded Growth exists.

Our Approach To Small Business COaching
Business and Leadership Go Hand in Hand
One of the things we have learned over years of working with businesses is that strong companies require more than good strategy.
They require strong leadership.
Ron’s work focuses on the external side of business — strategy, operations, financial structure, acquisitions, and preparing companies for sale.
Nicole’s work focuses on the internal side of leadership — helping capable, driven people reconnect to their clarity, direction, and internal stability so they can lead well and sustain momentum.
Many capable entrepreneurs don’t lack intelligence or drive.
What they lack is space to step back, reconnect with themselves, and regain clear direction.
Nicole helps people slow down, clear internal noise, and reconnect with what matters so they can move forward deliberately.
In simple terms:
Ron helps people build stronger businesses.
Nicole helps people become the kind of person who can lead those businesses well.
Coaching Should Produce Real Results
There are many different types of coaching available to business owners.
Some focus on motivation.
Some focus on mindset.
Those things can be useful for a short time.
But if coaching only changes how someone thinks and doesn’t improve the economics of the business or the quality of leadership, it eventually becomes another expense line item.
The work we do focuses on real outcomes.
- Stronger margins.
- Better systems.
- Clearer leadership.
- More valuable businesses.
- Your financial statements are a strategic planning tool, not a report card.
When owners understand their numbers properly, they make better decisions about pricing, margins, growth, and investment.
If coaching improves profit, structure, and leadership capacity, it becomes an investment.
If it doesn’t, it won’t last.
The Work Still Belongs to the Owner
Coaching is not a shortcut.
It doesn’t replace the responsibility of ownership or leadership.
The people we work best with are prepared to invest time working on themselves and their business outside of coaching sessions.
Typically this means two to four hours per week focused on things like:
- building profit plans
- refining marketing strategy
- developing systems and processes
- documenting SOPs
- improving financial clarity
- reconnecting to leadership clarity and direction
The coaching conversation creates direction.
The real progress happens between the calls.
Ideas don’t build businesses.
Implementation does.
What Grounded Growth Helps People Build
At its core, Grounded Growth is about building things that last.
- Profitable businesses.
- Clear leadership.
- Strong systems.
- And companies that create real value for the people who own them.

Others want to expand through acquisition.
Some want to prepare their company for a successful exit.
